New to all this only been online a week ........ I've been sffering with panic disorder for five months and i'm taking SSRI's which have helped however ... along with my panic disorder i'm sufferin costo chondritis which just will not budge ...... is there any one out there who suffer any physical symptoms along with their panic anxiety .... cos i'm really getting down .... drop me aline ...cheers
Old_Anonymous_Members 09-02-05, 03:24 PM I've suffered so many physical symptoms as a result of my panic disorder.
These include:
breathlessness,
nausea,
skin problems (minor),
dizziness,
a sensation that the ground is moving beneath me,
to name but a few.
Everything felt so physical that I was convinced something was really wrong with me, and it was years before I felt brave enough to go for a medical examination. Diagnosis was that I was absolutely fine, which reassured me for a bit, but the panic disorder has taken on a life of its own, and I still worry about everything, especially all the physical sensations!
Don't despair, and no matter how bad you feel physically or psychologically, it's all just anxiety and no more harm can come to you.
Hi there Calebuk .... thank's everso much for your reply if i could get rid of this costo i'd be firing on three and three quarter cylinders ...as it is i'm currently on three ... still taking Citalopram for my disorder but it has been marvelous for me ... reallyhelped with my state of mind .. but it's so nice to talk to people who are going through/been through it .. to be sure my friends and family are brilliant but it's not the same as comparing symptoms/problems with others thanks for replying ..... do you still suffer with your disorder ... Old_Anonymous_Members 09-02-05, 05:24 PM Hey Andrea,
Yeah, I still suffer really badly from panic. I've just had a few weeks off work because my attacks got really bad just before Christmas. I'm just about holding it together now i'm back at work, but finding things really, really hard. Today's especially bad as I could barely sleep at all last night and am feeling so tired I can barely think. Am convinced I'm going to pass out, but haven't done so yet or on any other occasion I've felt so bad, so here's hoping I'll make it through another day OK!
Hi there Calebuk ... are you taking anything to regulate your attacks? ... i tried to work for six weeks whilst i was having panic attacks ....however after then i had to go off work sick to get diagnosed and receive treatment ........ was off work a total of 4.5 months was my first week back last week ....... but only working am's to get phased back in .... so far so good but my hob is pretty stressful which doesn't exact help .. are you in the UK ? ... how long have you suffered with panic attacks ..... Andreax :D
Old_Anonymous_Members 10-02-05, 06:28 PM Hey Andrea,
I'm not taking anything at the moment. Was on a beta-blocker called propranolol until very recently and was prescribed seroxat when I was 18, which I was on for nearly two years. Doctor has just prescribed me prozac but I'm a little scared to take it, even though I am quite pro anti-depressants, as I believe they definitely worked for me in the past.
I'm only working three days a week at the moment because it's all I feel I can manage, which is a little depressing, as I really want to just be getting on my life as 'normal'. Plus, money's pretty tight too.
I'm 24 and living in Bristol btw!
What exactly is chondritis btw? Excuse my ignorance.
Hi there ... costo chondritis is inflammationof the cartlidge in the sturnum where your ribcage fuses together at the front of your chest .... itcane be a mild nuisance to raging soreness ...... i was wkg full time 37.5 hour week ... however i'm only working 18.5 hour week now as i can't manage my job full time any longer ... it's a stressful + horrible job ... done it for sixteen years ... i was on beta blockers (for migraine) for about three months ... i'm sure they led to these panic/anxiety attacks ... i'm on Citaloprem 20mg one daily .... have been for 2.5 months they've been wondeful for me and stopped me having attacks about three times a day .... don't know about Diazepem ... sounds quite strong to me .... but then again it may be xactly like my tablet ...... i'm doing quite well now but my costo is painful + gets me down a little .... what do you like to do in your spare time ... are you able to socialise much with your anxiety ..... nice to hear from you ..... chin up .... is Calebuk your real name or a nic name it's very unusual ... Andrea
Old_Anonymous_Members 11-02-05, 02:32 PM Hey Andrea, thanks for your post.
I've had to cut down majorly on my socialising unfortunately. I'm meant to be going to Stoke on Trent this weekend for one of my best friend's birthdays, but have decided not to go as I know I'm not ready for a big hedonistic weekend where I'm sure I'd drink too much. All very frustrating! I usually only go out once a week now maximum, when about a year ago I was going out all the time.
I think the beta-blockers actually contributed to my anxiety too. At best, they had little or no effect, although I was on a very low dosage.
In my spare time I enjoy playing and writing music, painting, and good food/wine! How about you?
Caleb is my middle name btw, and I'm from the uk, obviously!
Hi there Caleb ........I like the good food and eating out with friends .... i'm an avid film buff .... most genres but don't do horror since suffering anxiety .... and i'm not keen on action movies ..... like a film with a good plot a twist or two and a good script ....... I love art and love going to see major exhibitions in London .... been a while since i've treated myself to a weekend in London .... never been to bristol .... love theatre never drink wine ..... and very into heritage + wildlife ... and books of course ... sound very boring don't I ...I also do classical music .....alwalys been a big fan of indie music and like the new stuff thats comming out now ... snow patrol keane etc ....i'm the biggest manic street preachers fan ever ....and i also like rock music (esp metallica)........ i'm just going out again now but hadn't been anywhere from Sept to Jan whilst going thru this ..... missed out on manic street preachers tickets at wolverhampton sold out in hours ... gutted ...... so what instruments do you play ... guitar? you sound very creative for 24 ...... Andrea x
Old_Anonymous_Members 11-02-05, 06:12 PM I've taken Citaloprem and also Diazepam and today I've taken both and am still having a panic attack!!!!!!!!!
I'm no expert are you supposed to take both??????? : ........... Andrea x :(
Old_Anonymous_Members 12-02-05, 01:29 PM Hey Andrea,
Thanks for your message! I play piano, viola, bit of guitar and can sort of sing, but songwriting's my main thing.
I like the manics, seen them live twice, once years ago when Richey was still in the band, but only own Everything Must Go, rather shamefully. Am going through a massive Kate Bush phase at the moment, much to the amusement of some of my friends!
How much are you managing to go out at the moment btw? I'd love a weekend in London, been meaning to go and see a friend there for ages, but afraid that my anxiety might not be able to stand it.
Hi there Caleb ...... we've got very similar music tastes methinks ... cos i'm a Kate Bush fan also ... she was way ahead of her time .... going out mainly with friends ..... but not to environments where it's crowded .. i've never been one for niteclubs but do like winebars etc .... and i have to say when i first went out could only manage an hour before i had to ditch it ..... got very claustraphobic .... it's a beautiful sunny day here and that makes a difference ... wot do you work as ..... i'm in local government and a benefit officer for my sins ...... i hate it would love to work in an antique book shop much more me ....or waterstones/ottokers .... but the pay is good + when your feelin ok plentyof overtime .... my friends taking me shoppin in a while ... speak to you soon ... how you feelin today in yourself are you planning any outtings yourself .... have you started your diazepem yet ... speak to you soon Caleb ..hope you're having a good day today........ Andreax 8)
Caleb ... .. if you ever want to chat thru MSN my name is Babooshka100 ... (told you i was a Kate Bush fan) .......... Andrea
Old_Anonymous_Members 14-02-05, 12:06 PM The doctor said I could take them both but the chemist said I couldn't. Anyway it's Monday and I'm still here. The citaplan has kicked in today and I'm feeling much better. For a change!
Old_Anonymous_Members 14-02-05, 02:56 PM Hey Andrea,
Thanks for your message. Got into a bit of trouble at work on Saturday for going on the internet too much and am pretty much banned from the computer now, which is gutting as I don't have internet at home and will just have to go the library when I can. Plus sites like these are a lifeline when I'm having a particularly bad day at work, like today, and feel like I'm going to faint all the time! Argh!!!!!!!!!!! At the moment I work in a shop which sells sheet music and instruments called Musicroom, (next to a Waterstone's incidentally!) It should be relaxing but I hate it at the moment and am quitting really soon I think.
Hope you're well! Sorry this is so rushed
TO GUEST ..... so glad to hear that the Citaloprem has kicked in ... are you feeling the effects now ...how's the panic attaks ... it took 10 days for me to see a difference and in those x10 days i actually felt worse .. so i hope this is the start of your recovery ....... all the best and keep in touch ..... ps been on mine x3 months and i'm feeling fine now .... well as fine as i could .....Andrea
To Caleb ... sorry to hear you were having a bad day i mean i know you do get them .......... so let me know when you can how you're doing .. keep in touch ... chin up Caleb ...... Andrea ........ :P
Old_Anonymous_Members 16-02-05, 06:20 PM Hi Andrea, thanks, I am feeling much better on them than off them although they haven't kicked in completely. I keep feeling as if I'm about to have an attack (fingers tingle when asked to do certain things) but then can actually manage the situation without one happening. To others out there I was the biggest disbeliever of pills, but they really do work,
guest ...... my fingers tingled + sometimes they still do ...... i used to get the rushes (but muffled if that makes sense) ... as if i was having a panic but it was muted ..... so there we go and in time they do decrease hardly get those at all now ..... think like you sound on the way to me ..... which is great to hear ... keep in touch ...Andreax :P
