Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone has weird habits when they start to panic, i.e

. Frantically searching through your bag to distract yourself, when your not really looking for anything?

. Humming to yourself

. Running your fingers through your hair, pulling at it, trying to get it off your face?

. Clearing your throat

. Checking your pulse

. biting your lip

. testing your breath (blowing on your hand)

. holding your stomach

etc etc, it would be good to hear if anyone else does this kind of thing.

hey, I definitely have random habits when I start to panic. A constant habit I have when having an attack is looking through my back when I'm not actually loooking for anything. I also clear my throat, run my fingers through my hair, and constantly look at the time on my phone even though I know it's only been a minute since I last looked. But I've gotta say, when you mentioned the whole rummaging through your bag habit, that definitely hit home. I always do that and, I dunno... I guess it's nice to hear that I'm not alone with that compulsion.

It's weird isn't it, It doesn't seem to really help though, it just automatic. I guess some people are scared about different physical feelings, my big thing is breathing, feeling like I'm not getting enough air it really freaks me out, for other people it could be feeling faint or dizzy, I've found that the more and more you dislike the feeling, the more intense it becomes, it's like your tormenting yourself.

The brain sure is a clever thing, I always ask myself the same question, I don't want to do this to myself, so why is happening!?, I think I'd be amazed by the numer of times I asked that question (why?)

Hi.

When I am in the car and stuck in traffic, I fumble with my mobile phone, or open the glovebox and rake about in it. Not actually looking for anything, just trying to occupy myself.

I pray.
I sing outloud (very poorly)
I spin the rings on my fingers.
Call someone. Usually make up some stupid excuse as to why I called.
I flip my phone open and closed, open and closed.
I bite my nails.
I play with my hair.
I rub my face.
Pace back and forth.
Check my pulse.
Check my breathing.
I could go on forever, but I'm sure you all have better things to do than sit and ready my enormous list.
Everyone has different things that comfort them. Some of us more than others, lol. The things we feel silliest about doing are probably the ones that are most common among other sufferers. Like digging through your bag looking for nothing (I do that too by the way). It's nice to know there are others that experience the same things. Hope you are all well.
God Bless
