Workers were feeling more depressed and anxious about returning to the office after a holiday than in previous years, according to a new study.

A survey of 2,000 adults showed that more than four out of five were worried about getting back to work, an 11% increase on a year ago.
More than a third of those polled by photo giant Snappy Snaps said they suffered from so-called Post Holiday Tension.

Psychologist Professor Geoffrey Beattie commented: "It is worrying that such a large percentage of people admit to suffering from anxiety and depression, especially because as a nation we all go on a lot more holidays than we used to.

"The research also highlights that PHT has become more acute in recent years, due to modern living and expectations."

One in five of those questioned said they immediately booked another holiday on their return, while one in 10 phoned in sick because they couldn't face going straight back to the office.
