Hey, So I went and saw my GP for what seems like the hundreth time this year already, and he prescribed me Prozac, I had a look on this site to see what people had said about it and all i seemed to find was extremely negative experiances.

I have quiet a big fear of being sick and so to read people saying it made them really ill has made me too scared to take them. Although, my anxiety attacks make me feel very sick anyway, so maybe it is worth putting up with it if it will make me feel much better after the initial side effects have worn off. I also hear it has made people very ill coming off it too....does this always happen, or just to some people? has anyone had any positive experiances with the drug?

I have tried all sorts of alternative therapies and have seriously had enough of having everyday made into a nightmare because of panic attacks and fear. I would really appreciate to hear peoples experiances.

Hi Dollydarko,

Try it! You will find side effects in any anti-depressant and usually they all sound scary. It is not worth setting up with anxiety and panic only because there might be a side effect. If you are experiencing any side effects discuss with your GP. If they are to much for you, ask your GP to either reduce the dosage or give you another medication.

I did not take Prozak, I took Clobazam. When I first started I was incredibly tiered and could not drive, but I was free from anxiety. So I went back to my GP after only three weeks and asked him to reduce the dosage. He halved the dose and with the energy that I had recovered during the fear-free days, I managed on that.

Coming off the medication: I had no problem with the Clobazam. I was affraid that the anxiety would come back, but it didn't. I also was on Serotodine and this was more difficult. I had to come off it really slowly, since every reduction in the dose gave way to aggressive emotions, which eased of slowly. But I managed, because I had time to calm down and "charge my batteries" during the time I was on the medication, that coming off it was not nearly as bad and exhausting as the anxiety and panic attacks I suffered before.

My advice: Try it! You might or might not experience side effects. If you don't try, you will only keep suffering from the anxiety, but if you try, it you might get better.

Also don't get disconcerted by the latest report in the media about the efficiency of Prozak etc. I will write something about it in the Headline News section.

Have a relaxed day!
