Hi, I'm 39 years old and have been suffering from Panic Disorder for 14 years. I have started taking Lexapro recently and am experiencing burning sensations in the back of my head pretty much constantly. I also have a burning sensation in my throat and on my tongue that comes and goes. I cannot remember if I was experiencing these sypmtom before I started taking Lexapro, so these sypmtoms are causing me constant worry. I wanted to know if there's anyone else out there that has ever experienced burning in the back of your head or burning in your throat or tongue due to anxiety. I just can't seem to believe that stress can cause these sensations.
Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy
I have not experienced the burning that you describe but I have felt numbness in the back of my head caused, presumably, by anxiety.
I take Lexapro and one of the symptoms I used to get when I first started the medication was a very dry mouth so maybe the feelings in your throat are a similar effect. My side-effects disappeared after about 10 days.
Best wishes
Chris
I have had a hot feeling on my head, like a patch of hot even though the part of my head feeling hot doesn't feel hot on the outside, eating my dinner a couple of times. I've also had a burning sensation all over my body a couple of times. I would ask a doctor if the burning you describe could be side effects. Here's a long list of anxiety symptoms which might help http://www.anxietycentre.com/anxiety-symptoms.shtml

Hiya. I sometimes get a hot feeling, all over my body usually. I was in JJB Sports the other day with my Brother, and all of a sudden I got a warm hot feeling all over my body, and starting to feel "Out of it" and In a dream kinda state...
Sometimes I find taking deep breaths can help, just think positive thoughts, and if trying to calm yourself down by thinking of something else!!
Hope that helps, I'm a newbie on these forums but I completely understand how your feeling...
Dan :)
