Hi

This is my first post, for the past 7 years I have had anxiety and depression. For the past 3 years I have been taking citalopram 40mg a day and have been doing pretty well, but last week my younger sister had a serious health scare and spent 2 days in hospital ( thankfully she is fine now) but since then all my panic attack symptoms have returned and I am now back on diazepam. I have seen a CPN and a psychologist in the past and although they were great I really dont want to go back down that road again. I was just wondering if anyone here has had similar experiences and weather they managed to get over it themselves or did it knock them straight back to under that horrible dark cloud where you feel helpless and scared of everything? Thanks, Lainy

Hi,

By no means am I an expert but maybe if you try to remember what it was your counselor helped you with. What were the methods you learned to "control" your negative thinking.

I believe that it is very normal for you to get over-whelmed when a loved one has a health problem. You wouldn't be normal if you didn't get anxious. It is a matter of of getting back on track now and start thinking positively again. I have faith, you will find your way again. A good start is to try to remind yourself of the good things you have in your life at the moment.:)
