Most of the authors of a Journal of the American Medical Association study about the safety of taking antidepressant drugs while pregnant failed to reveal their financial ties to pharmaceutical companies, including those that make antidepressants. The study was published in February. In a letter-to-the-editor, the researchers wrote they had concluded there was “no inherent conflict of interest” because their study was funded by the government and didn't evaluate any particular drug. The authors, however, said they regret failing to disclose industry ties, since the main study findings indicate pregnant women received a benefit from antidepressants.
