 I haven't had any feelings with my heart for so long, and its scared me crapless that this hit me all of a sudden. i was standing up in the kitchen and i kind of coughed. well all of a sudden it felt like my heart had stopped for about 20 seconds...i immediately left the kitchen and went straight to my parents room there i got down on my knees and stretched forward to where my hands were on the floor in front of me. i started to feel better so i sat up and stood up. then it felt like my heart was beating again but it was fluttering instead normal beating. i got up and walked into the living room and the feeling just suddenly stopped and my heart was beating normally like nothing ever happened. this lasted all of a minute so it was nothing big. but i seriously thought that this was it this time. when i got the feeling that my heart stopped i kinda started feeling detached from myself and like i was going to pass out. but it didn't happen. then i started feeling shaky and started sweating and had the feeling that i was going to die. you know, the classic panic attack . my husband has the samething and he says he thinks my mind just decided to freak out and play a trick on me and make me feel like that happened. especially since it just went away as fast as it came. please tell me that someone else has had this happen to them , this was perhaps the scariest thing i've felt.

Hi. Sorry I've never had such a feeling of panic over irregular heart beats like you've described. I have had strange heart sensations like beating fast, missing beats, fluttering feeling etc which did worry me as my dad died of a heart attack at 47 years. I went to the doctors and had tests etc and there is nothing wrong so that is a relief to know. I've noticed that caffine and alcohol can set it off sometimes and I have to avoid these things for a while until it settles down. I just ignore whatever my heart does but when I get pains in my chest as well it is a bit worrying sometimes but it always goes away quite quickly so it's not worth getting stressed over. My husband gets strange heart sensations at times too so I think it is relatively normal. I can understand how you got a panic attack over it though as it can be a bit frightening, although panic attacks themselves are the most frightening things for me!
I have to say that out of all the symptoms the heart beat one has to be the scariest!! mind does the same thing, sometimes it like I have missed a beat or it feels like it is jumping around, it scares the C4%$ out of me!!
:( and I hate saying to people I think there is something wrong with my heart  when I know fine that there is not but then I think, well maybe this time there is.. does that make sense?? its like going round in circles!!!

Your experience doesn't sound strange to me at all! I remember many attacks where it felt as if my heart had stopped and I could hardly breathe. There were even times that my whole body would become numb... Well, anyway, I'm still alive.
