I hvae high blood pressure, deneralized anxiety disorder and panic disorder. I am on medications however sometimes those panic attacks just sneak right through.

Most recently, a panic attack occured in the car in the precense of a very close friend. She truly wanted to help me through the worst part and I would have loved to have her help. Problem was, I didn't know what to tell her to do.

Is there someone that has really helped you come down from a panic attack? What did they do or say to help you?

Thanks guys!

As far as my experience goes, no one has ever been able to help me feel un-anxious.... except by taking my mind off of what Im feeling. My fiancee will sometimes go that extra mile to get my attention :-p . Anyway.. it actually usually worsens the problem for me if people pay mind to it, like pointing out that my face is red or that im acting strange... that just makes it come on stronger. Your best bet would be to hand the some literature on it, like symptoms and why our minds react in such a way. Then let her figure out how to help you. Again, the best thing that helps me is just keep saying to yourself in your mind, nothing is wrong pay no mind to it, and then ill start figuring how much money i need to pay all my bills or thinking about future plans... You just need to change your state of mind. WOW RAMBLING = DONE

I know what your going through. I have had them for 4 years now and I finally found a method that works for me to calm them down. When you feel them coming on tell yourself they are not going to hurt me because they won't!!! Control your breathing. Heres how. Loosin your body try not to tense up, take a very, very deep breath (in) using ur nostrols, only your nostrols. Hold the breath in for about ten seconds count each second to keep your mind off the attack. Then gradually release the air out of your mouth. Keep repeating the steps and it will calm you down and hold off the attack. It may take a couple of times to get it just right, but I promise, and promise to you it will work!!!!! I didnt believe for the longest time anything would, so it is a pleasure for me to share what I know now works. I know what your going through hang in there IT WILL GET BETTER!!!! God Bless You and good luck!!!!!!!!
