Does anyone here practice yoga? Peter 05-01-05, 07:55 PM Not me, but I have felt attracted to Tai Chi over the last year and plan to pursue that. Yoga seems very broad, from posture to movement, rhythm of breath, focus mindfully, static postures. Tai Chi I think has an accent on stance, posture and movement, transition of movement. It will lead to proper breathing to be able to actually enjoy it, otherwise u'd get exhausted, which is not really intended I'd say. All 2 promote flow of certain energy, I like yoga less as it seems more laid back and less active. I am pretty restless at times and could use some more active movement, or at least not 30 minutes of meditation, I'd prefer to do that at home, not in a group. Greetings, Peter. Old_Anonymous_Members 07-01-05, 05:45 PM i do yoga and i love it but i know it can't be for everyone. kendra 11-01-05, 12:56 PM have you booked yourself lessons then? Supporter Kate 11-01-05, 04:28 PM yes susan! the pressure is on now! Supporter Susan 13-01-05, 12:48 PM i started my first week last week, and i loved it. I don't ache as much as i thought i would too. Very relaxing, and you feel invigorated after also. kendra 18-01-05, 11:23 AM i did yoga for two years until an unrelated old back injury cropped up. It is so relaxing and good for the body and mind, i miss it. Mr Fixit 19-01-05, 04:30 PM I thought that yoga could make anxiety worse if you are told to look inwards and not keep yourself busy. Maybe it is just me but i think it would drive me crazy. Supporter Susan 19-01-05, 06:00 PM i see the point you are getting to mr fixit. I think it is one of those things where you know if it is for you or not. If you can't focus and your mind is too busy wandering off then it probably isn't for now. Yoga does help you train the mind though. i would say everyone should try it at least once. I love it. Jonny5 20-01-05, 01:30 PM my sister did yoga for a long while, she loved it. Delinquent 21-01-05, 05:17 PM peter gave it a pretty good overview i totally agree with him. Go tai chi! Peter 29-01-05, 03:50 PM Of course I can't agree more ;) haha |
