advice on a specific symptom

First of all, it is very reassuring to see the threads in the group; I know that I am not alone in this. I have recently suffered from a few panic attacks, and am quite sure what the cause is: my job is extraordinarily difficult at the moment, I have a two-year-old and a 6-month-old at home. My life is very stressful.

I suffered from slight anxiety attacks for a few weeks, and then had a real panic attack. I've been to my physician, had EKGs, bloodwork and chest X-rays that prove that at least in those areas I'm healthy. My physician diagnosed anxiety, and I was prescribed Xanax. That has helped a great deal. But there is a specific physical symptom that remains, and I'm not sure if it is attributable to the panic / anxiety disorder:

I have a numbing feeling in the back of my head that sometimes feels like a headache, sometimes like pinpricks. It is accompanied by slight dizziness. It sort of feels like you do when you sleep in the same position for a long time and the back of your head goes to sleep. When I take the Xanax, the symptoms dissapate a good deal, but are still there.

Is this common?

Thanks very much for your replies.

i have just about the same thing. sometimes it'll feel like this tingly crawly sensation travel up the back of my head from the bottom to top. sometimes i'll get numb sensations in my face. i hate the crawly feeling on my head it makes me feel like there are buggies up there.

For me the sensation seems to last throughout the day, with very little cessation, and regardless of whether or not I am feeling stressed or anxious.

How long does the sensations last for you?

I get that feeling sometimes too and Im not so sure it is related to panic disorder because I know of people without panic disorder who have the same thing happen to them sometimes too. I sometimes try to attribute too many things directly to my panic disorder that have nothing to do with it at all. Its hard not to when you have so much to deal with, I know. I just wanted to respond to let you know that somethings arent your disorder, and if this is happening so often you may want to get a check up with your regular doc.
