Hello, I am going to have surgery next month and I am scared to death. I need this surgery to take out my gallbladder. My numbness is coming back bad. I haven't had numbness like this in a few years. I dont know what to do to get my mind off of it. I try really hard to put it out of my head but i dont do so good.
I have had two surgery they were C- section. They were both emergency and after my second one I lost a lot of blood and they didn't give me any more until a week later. I remember trying to wake up after surgery and felt my pulse all over my body, and was just sick, so now I am worried about waking up and getting put out, and everything...
Can anybody give me some advice, good or bad to help me,,,
If you had surgery how did you get through it.,,,,,
thanks for any help

Hi Lou

I had to have surgery about 4 years ago and I can fully understand what you're going through. A lot of it with me was the fear of the general anaesthetic and being 'put under' - you know what control freaks anxiety sufferers are.

I even remember reading at the time that the odds of dying from the effects of a general anaesthetic are 25000 to 1. These odds are of course massive but I thought at the time they were a bit low.

Just try to remember that to the hospital staff this is just routine stuff. They don't expect harm to come to you so you shouldn't.

Good luck anyway
