I have had anxiety for a year now. I tried taking medications but they didnt help. For months I only felt panic in certain situations, like shopping, or being in crowded areas. But now I feel horrible every minute of the day. My head doesnt feel right. I have constant headaches and dizziness. I now that there is nothing wrong with me physically because I have gone to the doctor a million times and have had every possible test done. Can anxiety really be this powerful?? Can phychological factors create headaches, migraines, dizziness? I really cant live like this anymore. I thought having panic attacks at a grocery store was bad enough, but now now I dont even feel safe at home.
Can anyone out there relate to this?

Hi Gigi,
Anxiety and panic can be that powerful, and what's even worse, it perpetuates itself until you start avoiding everyday situations. That is because of what they call anticipatory anxiety (fear of having another panic attack). This can become extremely disabling, limiting your life in such a way that you are afraid to go anywhere. I am concerned that you don't even feel safe at home. That is a red flag. I think also that your comment that you cannot take it anymore also signals that immediate intervention is needed.
I know you've tried several doctors/medicines, but have you tried a psychiatrist and/or psychologist? I think a professional can help get you feeling safe enough to tackle the underlying problem. You can't go in this constant state, it is just not healthy, not to mention extremely scary and awful. Once you can get less anxious/panicky, there really are several great resources to help you through this. You don't need to rely on medication alone, but it can help you through the initial stages and allow you to explore further avenues.
I think this forum is a good place for you to see what others have experienced and what has worked for them. It's also a great support system, and you've already taken the first step to better health by sharing your concerns.
Gigi,
You are not alone!!!! many peple don't feel safe at home and that they feel as if they can't go on. Most people who experience panic every where often feel as if they can't go through this, yet they do. You my need someone to speak with. But I would reccommend you but Charles Linden's method as he too had many attacks at HOME everyday for a long time.
A tight band or headache is a normal response to anxiety.Deep breathing is very effective to slowing your symptoms down.

When feeling panicky, I've found that watching t.v. and talking to someone close to you is very comforting. I'm trying the technic of telling myself that this is not hurtful to me (except distressing) and it will go away and I'm ok. I've also gotten very much out of MASSAGE. It is very peaceful, and stretches the tightened muscles in the head, neck and shoulders- permitting oxygen to your brain. Between information on anxiety, relaxation, and massage, i've been on what I think is the right road to ridding myself of anxiety. I'm really considering buying the Linden Method also.
