hi everyone
does anyone suffer from these i can handle all the other symptoms associated with anxiety and panic but find these hard to deal with.
having been reasured several times by my gp that my heart is ok i still cave in when i have an attack of these. i can go ages with no attacks but when i have a bout of these it really freaks me out my confidence goes i dont want to go anywhere for fear of having missed hearbeats and can see myself collapsing and i know this is very unlikely but the fear is still there. any suggestions on how to deal with this would be great.

Does it feel like a slight pause then a sudden thump in your chest? only lasts around 2 seconds?
I too used to suffer with this. First it would last for some time my heart felt like it would keep on missong beats. This is normal when you are feeling really anxious.
Sometimes it was only one beat skipped like being in and elevator that dropped very fast.
Know that our bodies know how too take care of its self theses beats are the way the heart regulates itself. I learned to just keep on doing what ever I was doing inspite of it and the less attention I paid them the sooner they left me. deep breathing can also help.
Try not to worry about it it is simply another symptom just as thinking it is dangerous is a symptom. If you can tell yourself I am Ok this is normal and not add anymore fear they will leave in time.

HI
thanks for the replys
yes its just like a pause and then an almighty thump in my chest i will try to ignore them and carry on its just reasuring that other people get these as it is quite unusual. yes i do think if i add fear to this it becomes even worse so i will practice not adding any more fear .

When I wore the 24 hour holter monitor, in every time I noted in the diary that I had a pause then a thump, it matched in tune for each time I had an ectopic beat.
Apparently almost everyone has an ectopic beat, but most people don't feel them. They're harmless.
i can re asure you that these etopic heart beats are normal and they are not harmful. i know there scary coz they have scared me and they are worse with anxiety. Next time u get one just let it pass and pay no attention to it. most people get them even if they have never had anxiety, its just that we listen to them too much!!!!!
