I get this weird sensation on and off-it's mild feeling. But it feels like around my mouth(below my lips)-my lower cheeks-and upper neck get tingly-numblike. I can feel the skin but it just feels less than it usually does. I know this might sound confusion but I'm trying my best to explain it. I have been on Zoloft for 3 years for Panic/Anxiety/Depression and I also have Klonopin that I take as needed. That ranges anywhere from 3 times a week to once every two weeks. I read somewhere that benzo's can do this. I've recently had a MRI fro other symptoms so I'm pretty confident it's not MS or anything of that nature. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you and God Bless,
Leah

Hi Leahbeans
I've experienced this but I've only had it a few times in my face. I usually get it in my hands and feet.
I've always assumed that it was caused by either poor circulation (I smoke) or neuro-transmitter problems associated with anxiety.
Like you, I have worried that it is an indicator of something awful like MS but I have been getting it for years and it doesn't seem to have got any worse. I also get strange sensations in my mouth and nose, like someone is gently pulling at my lip or something - like you say, it's hard to explain. This makes me worry that I may be having a stroke, but again it's been happening for years.

Hi
the first time I had this I was convinced I had had a stroke. it was at the height of a very stressful time I had just resigned from my job as I had been suffering harrasment , I had come home from work and was just talking to my husband and son when the only way I can describe it is a sweeping feeling , it started at the top of my head went tingly down one side of my face my mouth felt as though it drooped then it went down my arm and my fingers clenched involuntary and then it was gone,it lasted a maximum of five seconds from that first feeling. I called the gp who saw me straight away checked blood pressure etc for my own piece of mind but the minute he saw me he knew it was anxiety attack. its something to do with adrenalin and hyperventilation, dont really understand it but it seems quite common. That was over six years ago and ive had a couple more milder attacks since then but they still scare the life out of me !!!!! Just remember your not alone

Yes - tingling senstions around the face - feels even numb at times - usually I get that when I have been very anxious - so a few times a week. It is just your nerves stretching themselves - I find that medication can cause it too. When I take SSRIs I usually get a lot of tingling around my cheeks and neck - like pins and needles. I think it is the way the drugs get into the synapsis of the nerves. It, of course, scared the life out of me at first but even right now as I type this I have tingling on my face and lips.
I assure you - you are not alone !

I get the tingling in my cheeks but its only when I eat. I am not on any medications or anything like that so I don't know what is causing it!
